    Hello

I was on my sister computer and found several things out of sync.

Task Manager was not working. I could not view programs when clicking on "All Programs" on the start tab. In addition, the pc is running extremely slow. I also performed the preferred scans. I was unable to do the rootrepeal scan, as I double clicked the exe on the desktop, it would stall at "Initializing, please wait" (I waited for 45 minutes and still it was stuck at that screen). Also, the time and date on the PC continues to change even when resetting it to the correct time.

    Attached are the logs.

Please assist with troubles and Thanks a lot for your help.

If these are still missing then please download and save the below tool from Grinler @ bleepingcomputer to your Desktop or anywhere else you can find it ( if the Desktop is not showing )

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

Now run it. Now see if you can find your Programs?

This may not be a malware issue. When you change it to the correct time, does it stay set correctly and then only get set wrong after a reboot?

Please explain what operations are slow! For example answer the below:
    • Is boot up slow?
    • Is shutdown slow?
    • Is browsing/surfing slow?
    • Is downloading slow?
    • Is running any/every application?
    • Is it also slow in safe boot mode?
    • Also are any processes showing in Task Manager to be using a lot of CPU time?
    • Anything else slow?

    Thanks for the speedy reply!!!

After running the suggested program, I can now see my programs in the "All Programs" tab.

Start up in normal mode is long, which may be attributed to the Trend Mirco Titanium software that was recently installed (2 months or so). Safe Mode boot up is fairly quick.

Upon starting up the computer, I get the following message: "Alert! Previous Fan Failure. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility". When I strike F1, it takes me to a choose of System recovery or start up with Windows XP.

I looked at the processes in task manager and saw the following hogging a lot of juice: core service shell exe.

In addition: there is a disc driver, which checks for a disk every 20 minutes or so, even though it hasn't been used in years.

When using Firefox, i continue to get a certificate error in regards to yahoo toolbar. (currently using chrome).

That is all i saw. other programs seem to be running smoothly.

You need to post about hardware problems in the Hardware Forum.

Not sure what process exactly that you are referring to?? There is no such named process. You need to use exact/specific names as to what you are referring too.

Again I don't know what you are referring to.

Uninstall Firefox, delete the folders and reinstall if you want to have Firefox available. Also uninstall Yahoo Toolbar if installed.

Ah!! Now I see what you meant. You put spaces in the name and that made it look like you were talking about multiple processes. You are really referring to the below:

    C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\AMSP\coreServiceShell.exe

This is your antivirus program. If it is the cause of slowing your PC down then you will need to uninstall it. You could try reinstalling after a reboot, but it may just be that it is too resource hungry for your PC specs.
