Possible Problem With Ccleaner

For about a month Firefox has gone to the 'trying to restore previous session' page instead of my homepage every time I go online. Everything is set to go to homepage in internet options, so on. Before I sign off I clear my history, then sign off. Then I have always gone to CCleaner and run a complete cleaning and registry scan. Have set and reset, uninstalled ff and reinstalled, and problem persisted. Went to mozilla ff forum and a member told me it was some setting in CCleaner that was the issue and to try just clearing history and not running CCleaner. I did that and it seemed to work. My homepage now loads instead of the 'restore previous session' page. But that means to me that something is wrong, I guess, with CCleaner, a program I have used for years and really like.
Can anyone give guidence as to what my next step should be, bearing in mind I am not very computer literate. Thank you.

In CCleaner I have the following options selected for Firefox.

You have to desist from running CCleaner after every session. Your CCleaner settings are wiping the very information Firefox needs in order to start normally with your homepage. Alternatively you could give some thought to your CCleaner options, as Eldon is hinting.

I didn't even see those options in my CCleaner. And I just deleted CCleaner anyway. Thanks. You all have changed your site. You used to have an initial page with downloads listed and classified. I can only find a lot of downloads, not classified into categories. Where is that? Do you all have any suggestions as to a good cleaner and registry issue cleaning program? When i tried to download a new CCleaner it put Chrome on my computer without permission, or none that I could see, so I had to go and uninstall that, too.

I don't think you will beat CCleaner but Chrome got loaded because you didn't pay enough attention when installing CCleaner and just clicked Install when Chrome was offered. With any cleaner, in fact with any software, you have to make some effort to understand the options as the defaults may not suit your needs. Ask here if necessary.

CCleaner Slim would avoid the Chrome issue but its cleaning process is the same as the full version so you would still have the same Firefox issue unless you change your pattern of use or change CC's FF settings.

Thanks. I found Wise disk cleaner. What do you all think of that?

    MajorAttitude prefers it over CCleaner.

I downloaded it about 40 minutes ago. It took out a lot of stuff. Gave back a lot of space, and specified a lot of what it took out. However, i don't know if it did the registry, the way CCleaner does, removing invalid entries. I looked all over it and couldn't find a mention of the registry. When I clicked on 'assistance' at the top of the page, nothing happened. I did go to the 'advanced' more agressive cleaner, but was terrified by it. Overall didn't find it to be as user friendly and comfy as CCleaner, tho it seems like it removes more. But CCleaner isn't as comprehensive in telling you what it removes, so not sure. Do need to know what it does in regard to the registry if anyone could help with this? It offers that you sign up for something called 'euast' for help, which I did, when clicking on 'assistance' did nothing. Not sure what 'euast' is. Left feedback with something, not sure what, about assistance not working, and was my register being 'cleaned' or whatever is supposed to be done to it. Every program seems to require a course or so in how to work it. Once you master that, they upgrade to something else requiring another course. Not against technology so much as tired of having to deal with things no one can possibly understand in total, even you all; and many of us are just perpetually confused.

No, it doesn't include a registry cleaner.

    Oh.
Good to know it's not that I was just too stupid to find it.
So can you suggest something that cleans good and does the registry too?

    You said...
Therefore you should stay away from registry cleaners.

Oh, I know, Eldon. CCleaner had one, and it didn't require my participation. It removed invalid entries. That is what I was looking for in Wise Cleaner, but couldn't find, and would like to have.

Tim, downloaded 'wise cleaner' about an hour ago. See my previous posts. My problem was that it didn't have the same register cleaner as CCleaner, that I could find. CCleaner removes invalid entries in the registry; maybe other things ,too??

You quoted my post, but you sure didn't look at it. Wise Registry Cleaner!!

Your registry is very similar to a dictionary. A dictionary contains a few thousand words which you use and a hundred thousand or more words you never use, perhaps have never heard of. If your dictionary was cut down to just the words you use it would be just as useful to you as it is at present in its bloated form. Your registry is the same - it contains thousands of entries which are essential to Windows and/or to your installed software but it will also contain entries which aren't used either by Windows or your software. Like the unneeded words in your dictionary these entries are completely harmless and don't have the slightest effect on your computer's operation, and the disk space they occupy is miniscule. There is no valid reason at all to try to remove these entries yet that is exactly what registry cleaners do. Trouble is, if the registry cleaner somehow deletes an entry that Windows or one of your softwares actually does need then trouble will inevitably ensue and will likely be near impossible to trace.

LEAVE THE REGISTRY TO LOOK AFTER ITSELF!

Sorry, Tim. It's been a trying day for me; this being the least of it. Not focusing. Wonder why 'wise' doesn't make a cleaner that does the registry, like CCleaner does.

I'm not understanding the point of quoting posts, without making a reply along with it in the same post.
