Ok, this may be a stupid question but I figure I will ask anyway. The way things are set up is I have the cable modem downstairs running to a linksys wireless router. The router is wired to a laptop, a desktop, and an X-Box. I have it wirelessly connecting to another laptop and a different desktop. Here is where it might get stupid. I have a few computers upstairs that I would like to be able to connect to the internet. My landlord will not let me run cables and I am not in a financial position to spend a lot of money on this project. I have a second wireless router, a couple switches, a hub, and tons of cat5. Is it at all possible for me to modify the second router, which is a d-Link, so that it picks up the signal from the Linksys router downstairs and then plug the d-Link router into either a switch or a hub and then connect the computers to the internet upstairs that way? I am trying to avoid purchasing a wireless bridge, as they are kinda pricey. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance guys.

what model is the d link?

Pretty sure you just have to give the wireless router upstairs the same ssid and set the wireless mode to repeater, but not positive on that.

I am sorry, I was mistaken. It is not a d-link it is a Netgear. It is a Netgear WGR614 to be exact.

can you configure your computers up-stairs for wireless, and pick up the wireless signal from the router downstairs???it should travel that distance with no problems.
