    Hallo

Is it Possible to reflash your BIOS to a previous version?

Ref : my two previous posts :

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=230529

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=231367

I have just been reading numerous other reports about HP recovery on their consumer forum

HP recovery disc giving an error code : error 1005
HP recovery partition giving an error code: 1002

    I have been receiving them.

A report I found from about these error codes mentioned DMI.

I looked up DMI and got the idea that I may be getting these errors because I had updated my BIOS from F13 (when I made my recovery discs) to F18 (when I tried to use my recovery discs)

Can anyone please confirm if If this is right?

I have contacted HP - but have yet to receive an answer

Edit: Sorry, I see that you got the recovery discs started because you got the error 1005. I will try to look into that error later tonight.

    Thanks mate,

I have tried searching on the web, but havn't anything useful. HP forums are full of the same problem, but no decent solution.

I actually phoned another 3 different countries today - for microsoft support - I had no idea what they were saying. I phoned HP and also got someone from an eastern country- I cannot make out out what they are saying with their accents.

I am not looking foreward to the phone bill!! 45mins and I ended up without learning anything!

Sorry for winging, I am just so frustrated!!

    Hi

No Tim, my laptop is in the state I received it - a replacement I finally received after months of fighting with HP after the Nvidia graphics failure that I believe affected millions of people worldwide.

    Hi Tim

Thanks, I read all the posts there, but it does not apply to me. The only thing I have changed on my laptop is the BIOS version - it came with F 13 and I updated it to F18 from the HP website - for my model of course.

Okay - I received it with Vista home premium SP1, I made the the recovery discs at once, before I did any updates.

    Last week :

I tried the discs and my recovery partician a few times, that failed - error 1002. I did all the tests that the recovery partician/discs offered, ie chkdsk of recovery partician, memory test, startup check, they all reported success. Factory restore gave me an error on the first recovery disc. Factory reset asked for the second disc, then kept failing at 86% with error 1005

I am so frustrated - and I it is not the computers fault!!!!!

I don't know what to tell you. The only thing that I can suggest is that you try to have HP send you a set of recovery discs. Maybe someone else has a better idea. :(
