Possible virus in AIM??

Hey guys...been a while since I've been here.

I'm having a problem with an AIM away message. A friend of mine had an away message up that said:

"i just made a screensaver! everyone check it out [LINK REMOVED BY KODO] click open to see it!!"

Very foolishly, I clicked the link. Now that same message sets itself as my away message at random times as long as I am logged onto AIM. I have tried running spybot: search and destroy and norton anti-virus (with the latest definition files) and I've gotten nothing. Anyone got any ideas on this?

 

I don't think its a virus... but I don't exactly know. You'll get a response from the computer techies soon. They'll know.

 

yes, it is a virus. Go to windows update and get all critcial patches. But FIRST update your anti-virus definitions and re-scan. If it doesn't find it, then try http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and scan with that.

 

You know how in AIM chats all those porno bots practically flood the chats with links? Are those links viruses too?

I did accidently click on one once. Then I started freaking out Don't know what happened though.

 

Well, it's hard to say. Some may be viruses and some may jus be adware type things.. when in doubt, don't click!
