I know that this is probably not possible but nothing questioned, nothing learned. I just realized that my laptops Hard Drive has an extra partition. I bought it used and did not realize this until today. So, there are three partitions altogether. The main one with the Windows 7 OS, the recovery partition, and finally an extra partition made up of about half my total memory.

What I want to know is, can I remove or consolidate the other partition into my main partition without having to redo everything? I would like to think it is as simply as deleting the partition, but I fear that it would not consolidate it into my main partition...basically it would hang out as unused space.

I appreciate any and all help with this matter.

My HP has an extra partition like that, but it's primary function is to store a recovery folder that contains all the information needed to have HP help me do a total recovery in the event of total crash. So be very cautious before deleting any partitions. You could destroy useful stuff forever. I hope this helps you.

Thank you for the words of caution. As I noted above, I can see the recovery partition, but this other partition is over 130GB of space. Along with the main partition of over 130GB of space it creates the stated 300GB of space. The partition is separated entirely.

any of the Partition software applications will remove or merge the extra partition but be sure what it is before you do anything.

It is also better to keep the partition and use it to store all your programs, documents, pictures and so on then if you have a problem with the OS you can reformat the OS and still have all you other stuff still there to use.

This is a free partition application.
