    Hi,

I booted my laptop this evening, went to open outlook and it wouldnt open. It just keeps wanting to send an error report. This is the 'error signature' of the report:
    Code:
    AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 11.0.5510.0 AppStamp:3f1380f0
    ModName: wininet.dll ModVer: 6.0.2800.1468 ModStamp:412ab6ae
    fDebug: 0 Offset: 00019064
I tried a PST scan to no avail and i created another pst file and i have replaced wininet.dll with a fresh one but nothing helped.

Other symptoms are MSN messenger wouldnt connect (but has since i replaced the dll) and the windows search causes an error in exploroer.exe.

    Code:
    AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: wininet.dll
    ModVer: 6.0.2800.1468 Offset: 00019064
Is there anything I can do to solve this messy conunderum?

    Many thanks
    fov

Hmmm, that pertains to outlook express.

    Side note #90.

What OS are you running? What version of outlook are you running? Do you have all the service releases for this version? Is windows updated fully?

    1. Navigate to %sysdir% (Most likely C:\Windows\System32).
    2. Find wininet.dll and rename it to wininet.dl
    3. Wait a few moments. A new, clean version of wininet.dll should appear.
    4. Reboot the system and delete the wininet.dl file.

If this works it might be malware affecting the file, so I would go to the link below and follow the steps listed there.

Right i think its to do with the pst file i have been using. Its at 400mb but ive had them at nearly 2 gig before i made them just personal folders but ive scaned it with scanpst.exe which found nothing.
Anyway the system is operating smooth at the moment as i have created a new mail profile and new pst file but i cant put the old one as a personal folder without it becomeing unstable again. I have an old copy of most of the emails in thunderbird but i would like to have my pst either as my main mail folder or even just as a personal folder so i can refer to old mail easily.
Anyone any ideas what i could try?

Well ive got it set up now and it seems stable.
What i did was to create a new mail profile with no accounts then load it up and import my old PST in file>import/export and it now running grand! (touch wood)

    Cheers for your help
