POST reports incorrect duplex?

Howdy,

I have a Win2K machine using an onboard Intel Pro 1000 NIC. A little background: I have been trying to get this machine onto a regular backup using Symantec Ghost 8. Thing is that it always times out. I've been working with Symantec support to resolve this.

What I came here to ask about was this: In the properties of the NIC, I have it configured to use 100Mbps full duplex. However, when it POSTs, it reports that the machine is using 100Mbps HALF duplex. I would like to confirm which setting it is actually using, and if it is using half duplex, to set it to full to eliminate it as a suspect for the problem above. Can anyone advise?

Cheers TimW! Sadly, this is for the 802.3 ethernet standard, and we're using 802.11, so I have some doubts. I'm going to read it anyway, it may still be useful. Thanks!

 

Ahhhhh!

Here's something that may help others in the future! Apparently, ghost and the Intel PRO/1000 CT don't play too well together. The above article has a resolution I will try.

 

Okay, that didn't help me; I'm back to investigating the link speed.

 

I should've checked the simple things first. The damn switch the machine is connected to makes the NICs attached to it negotiate half duplex. Thanks everyone! I'll be getting a new switch...
