Post Wind XP SP2

I recently installed SP2 and it went in very smoothly. However, since installing it I can't open any web sites from my Favourites folder or and from links I have received in email messages. I know I don't have spyware or a virus (I have checked both over the last few days)

Also, I can't associate HTML files with IE.

I assume that this is because of SP2 and (giving the benefiet of the doubt) a planned change by Microsoft. I had a similar problem with email links but have overcome that.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how did you get around it?

I also have XP SP2 and have not had trouble like you have mentioned. Did you miss any IE updates that you needed on the "Window's Update" Website. This may sound stupid, but you may want to try it. Good Luck!

 

Also, you can go to "Internet Options" and click on the "Advanced" tab. Look through the list there and see what is/is not checked. An example, make sure "underline links -- Always" is checked. Look through these and try different ones, you can always restore it back to the defaults. Good Luck!

 

Thanks for the messages Cepy I have all the critical updates and yes I have been through everything I can think of regarding links but nothing is out of place. I even tried asking Microsoft but as usual they where of no help
