Pouf! and gone is my 6800GT

Howdy y'all,
when i turned my screen on this morning it stayed black. not the first time after leaving the pc on over night so i restarted it and all was fine. Then i burned a cd and all of a sudden red lines appeared on my desktop. i rebooted again and there it was. graphic corruption in the bios and i couldnt even get into winXP cause the login screen was all blue with some stripes, and it kept going black, blinking back oand forth. Soooooo... is it dead?
by the way, it wasnt overclocked and i didnt change drivers or anything....

I've seen nVidia graphics cards that had the plastic around the fan warp, which caused the fan to stop moving, which caused the processor to overheat. That red block in the first pic kinda looked like that, except they were all over the screen in vertical lines, like the second pic.

I'd say, if you're comfortable with it, crack the case and see if you can move the fan manually, if its difficult to move, the processor may be frying slowly or is already cooked.

 

i checked if the fan works, and it does... ill send it back, again, and see what they say... hopefully ill get a new one
