power am i laking

ok now that i think about it i have 3 fans 80mm i think with a nvidia 6800 graphix card with 80gig hard drive and 200gig hard drive a dvddrive and dvd rw burner and 3.5 disk drive and a motherboard k7n2 delta. am i giving it enough power is that why my comp is shutting down

 

What PSU do you have and do you have the power connector hooked up to the 6800?

 

you need at least 350w for that system, but 350w is playing with fire.

 

I think it wont boot with out it hooked up ...My 9800xt wont it will gave you a error msg on screen thow saying that the molex is unpluged http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.....

 

A 6600GT will boot up and the nVidia display screen will come up on the desktop and say to check the connection, that it is receiving insufficient power.

I know, I forgot it when I installed one for the first time, lol. While we're on that subject, does a PCI-E slot provide more power? Cause I have an X800XL PCI-E and it doesn't require a power cable.

Also... 350W is the bare minimum for a 6600GT, and a 6800 obviously is more powerful... I'd go with a 400-450 to be safe. Cooler master, Antec, Enermax, Tagan.

 

would that be the cause of my shut downs when i start a game i just got it back to windows is there a program that can tell me.
