My power button on my hp laptop does nothing ...it's "collapsed" I guess.
Taking it apart seems a bit like kissing it good-bye. Luckily this unit has a "quick play" button that starts it or wakes it up. It goes directly to a media player type thing with an option to go to windows...been using that but would like to have the "reset" function of the power button if it's re-assignable.
Here's the question...is there a way to assign the job of starting up to a custom button?
    Thank for the help...

Best bet is to check with the manufacturer, if it's still in warranty then take it off to the retailer as they'll be able to put in an RMA for you.
