    Hi

I am currently using an ATI 9250 agp graphics card, however it does not have a DVI connection. I am thinking of replacing it with a Gforce FX 5500 256MB agp card. Is there a big difference in power consumption between the cards, and if possible does anyone have approximate figures of the power consumptions.

I know these are old cards, but I only use the system for web browsing and want to use an LCD with the digital connection of the 5500. I have a 430W power supply in the system along with an Athlon 1600+ palomino, 1 hard drive and 2 DVD-RW drives.

    Thanks
    Sam

I've scoured the web for any hint of the power requirements for both cards but there is nothing that I can find to give you "exact" power specs for either card. But I'm sure a 430w power supply would be fine. I've found other people who claim to be running an FX5500 on a 250w PSU.

You'll be fine. The 5000 series cards are not big power suckers. I've put two into PCs with 250 watt stock PSUs and they did fine.
