I have a Sony Vaio PCG-8C6L that has an issue with plugging in the power cord. It seems that I have to get it in just the right position before it will power up the laptop but it only stays that way for a minute or so on a good day.

I've read another poster that had a similar problem and a suggestion was to take the laptop apart and reposition the female part of the laptop but I'm not technologically savvy enough to do it. Any suggestions?

If it is still under Warranty, take it back. ;)

If not, someone will probably have to take it apart and fix/replace the loose connection. :cry Bazza

I'll see if it's still under warranty but I've had it for awhile so I don't think it is. Thanks for the help bigbazza.

This is a very common problem with laptops, the power supply cord gets strung across the floor and somebody trips over it and jerks it out of the pc. That connection is covered with a plastic cap that holds it together on the motherboard, once it gets cracked things get worse, replacing the motherboard is the usual fix. Most people throw them in the closet when they get an estimate of repair. Not good news. ed
