I just got my hands on a DELL Poweredge 2450. It has two 300W power supplies. One of them is rather noisy. My question is, can I safely run the server on one power supply? I plan to use this server as a web server or as an primary domain server for a small 5-PC Windows network.

well form what i know of that poweredge its running two 866MHZ processors, that to me in my book calls for two PSU or one really big PSU (700W up). personally if it came with two why not just replace the noisy one? it is some special size for form on that one, or is it just a standard size?

That's the power supply it came with, so I assume that's the standard. I can replace, but I want to do so in such a way that I can reduce noise.

    Thanks
