Power fan not turning round

Hi there, please could someone help me.
I took my PC apart to de dust it - it had clumps of the stuff all over the CPU heatsink + fan !! Anyhow, it is now up + running however the power supply fan does not turn at all.
It is a Power Man FSP180-60SPV (have searched but cannot find it on the internet)... is it meant to be plugged into the motherboard other than via the ATX 20pin power connector somehow?? It isn't at the mo.
The mother board is MicroStar 6378

 

Do you remember how it was installed before you took it out? Are you sure your connection is tight?

 

Are you sure it was working before you cleaned your puter out as I have had a number of fans fail. The other reason I could think of is did you use a vacuum cleaner and hold it against the fan to clean it as I have heard that this can burn out the bearings of the fan since it will be spinning much faster than normal. When using a vacuum you should secure the fan somehow n then clean it. If its still not working, may be worth looking at a new psu as it may take other components with it if it blew!!

 

To be honest NO i'm not sure if it was working before, however surely it should have been !
I did not use a vacuum cleaner - I used a paintbrush to dust it...
I believe it is plugged in correctly it just doesnt turn... the PC still works and has everything intact - nothing else broken !
Hmmm perhaps I just need a new Power supply

 

I have seen it quite a few times where the fan stops working. Its not uncommon and the computer has been running kinda alright til the PSU finally gave in and blew. If you're going to replace it, may be worth getting a PSU with more than one fan ( I have and seen it when 1 fan has given in but the remaining one gave me enought time to replace it) and its worth paying a bit extra for a high quality one. I have and its given me a much more stable system and is still going strong where I may have replaced it a few times before. I also take it with me when I make a new system and just put in a cheaper one when I sell my system. Its worth the investment for the guarantee alone (and no I don't work in the PSU business).

What is PSU? I understand what your getting at just not the meaning !
I have also 'accidentaly' (as you, well I, do) broken the reset switch for the PC - me wife will go mad when she finds out

Where can I get new wiring for this from/plus HDD LED wire etc... - I am a UK man

Also what is a good power supply in your opinion - can I get anyone or does it have to comply with my motherboard?

 

DOH PSU = Power Supply Unit, ya Muppet !

Still anyone know where I can get the switches/wires for the power switch,reset swicth,HDD LED etc...

 

The cheapest place is a computer fair,but Maplin electronics sell all those little fiddly bits

The PSU depends on how much you wanna spend and what the rest of your system is.
