Power light on, but no power

I have an HP 6700 laptop that when plugged up has a light around the power plug, but when I push the power button, the lights by the power button and all across the top of the keyboard all blink once. Then no responce. I've removed the battery and held the power button to drain the power, but still nothing after the one blink. Any ideas? Thanks, 'cause I don't know!:confused

 

Have you had any other problems before this one like no connection to Internet ?? Have you checked the fans underneath to see if they are clean and fluff free ?? Is your power lead 100% ??

Can you answer my post above like losing internet connection before your Major problem.???

 

Try booting it without the battery in as HP's Batteries are prone to causing this type of issue.
