I was going to put a new board in my pc and when I got to the store I ordered it from oppps their mistake wont be in for 2 more weeks. So I assemble my old one back togeather and now it wont turn on at all, everything is hooked up right the only uncertaintity I have is 3 little wires each with 2 pins all coming from the front of the case say HDD LED; POWER and RESET. I have tried every possible plug in for these with no results what am I doing wrong?

After looking some more I know realize these are just the led power wires, I had it turn on for 2 secs then it died out I know nothing is broke I am just not plugging something in the right spot is there anywhere to get a good guide to wiring a motherboard?
It is a Intel LGA 775

Are you aware that the LED etc. connections have a + and a - are these connected in the correct order. Also check that your HeatSink fan is tightly connected and that it is spinning when you first boot up.

Wiring is good, and yeah the fan is tight, but there is no booting up at all, it does absolutley nothing when I hit the power button, and I have tried the power supply in another pc and tried another pwer supply in this one nothing makes it work.

I wonder if I fried the board doing all this could that be it?

LGA 775 is a CPU socket type. Can you find a motherboard model number? I just want to find a schematic to look at, Toke is more familiar with troubleshooting HW problems. :)

It sounds like you have the POWER switch connection on the wrong pins on the MB. The MB Model would be required for more assistance.

There should be a POWER LED and a POWER Switch connection.

The POWER Switch would be pins 6 & 8.

Make sure you don't have the POWER LED lead connected to the POWER Switch connection.
