Power Off During Pc Shutdown, Os Damage? (windows10)

Hi

When my PC was shutting down, the power went off (force shutdown)
The problem now is that the PC boots up very slowly, I can't open up a program properly and it takes like ages to just right click and do something with a file for example. Even the start menu of windows 10 wont pop up when i click on it.

Can it be that my OS is damaged because of some hard drive issues?
Do i have to do a system recovery?
And will this happen if I used an ssd? Because i was planning on buying one.

Any reply is appreciated.

I'm no expert but the first thing I think of is system restore. Tried that?

What OS is the PC running? Also, how old/heavily used is the PC?

I'd try a system restore or before that run some checks on the HDD, so open Computer and then right click the C: drive and choose Properties then Tools then click Check, this runs chkdsk without going into CMD. See if the check finds any errors.

As for SSDs then as they have no moving parts its less likely for data corruption from the drive heads stopping suddenly but you still could get corruption if the sudden stop event was a power spike. However SSDs are more resilient than HDDs IMHO.

Thanks for the reply guys, I did the check disk thing and it didnt find any erros (weird) and so i just did a system reset, evrything is working fine now

I'll be getting myself a nice SSD cause i HATE HDD's so much now. I've had some other HDD problems with my other laptops as well.
