When I press my power button on my laptop (Packard Bell EasyNote TJ61) the power LED comes on Blue and the fans start for about 5 seconds, then goes silent and the screen doesnt change from black. When plugging the charger in it beeps and the power light comes on Red.

    Anyone know whats going?

Tried the battery pull for 10mins, tried booting with the charger only, tried holding the power button down for 30seconds etc. But Nothing

    Any suggestions?

    A little update:

The laptop is clearly running because when I press the sound led touch pad it lights up, the disk drive opens up, and the power light remains on. But if I hold down the power button for a long spell it doesnt switch off?

    Any suggestions?

That isn't good. Sounds like you need to clean out the inside and maybe replace the fan if it fails to spin.

If the fans weren't operational for awhile, heat could have damaged the video chip and although Windows might start up, you can't see it because you have no video.

How do you finally turn it off?

I will try disconnecting the fans and reconnecting as there is no dust etc in them.

As for how I finally turn it off, I have to either do a battery pull or turn the power supply off and let the charge run out

when I listened closely the fans start for about 5 seconds when I hit the power button but then everything is silent. All the keys light up etc on the LED pad when pressed etc

Someone suggested making sure the magnets aren't jammed next to the hinge as this is like sleep mode when the lid is closed, how would I do that? Could that be it?

    Hi

If you take out the battery and then power up the PC with the mains power lead plugged in does that help and power up the PC?

Has this laptop been dropped or damaged in any way?
