    Hi,

I have Windows XP Pro. My Power Options/Power Schemes settings are as follows:

    Turn off monitor = Never
Turn Off Hard Drive = Never
    Standby Mode = Never

I seem to get better peformance with these settings, but I would like to know if these settings will adversely affect my hard drive and monitor.

    Thank you.

My two rigs run 24/7 so your last two don't apply to me but I always turned off my monitor physically if I was going to be away for more than 20 minutes. I especially did this with a CRT screen as the 'screensavers' were just phosphor savers as the electron gun kept on working.

With my LCD screen I've now relaxed that to a 20 minute off cycle and10 minute screensaver mode as that saves the light and the pixels, if the pixels need saving from burnout. HTH.

Thanks for your response, Augiedoggie. You influenced me to now thank that I should shut down my screen and disk drive after 20 minutes of inactivity.
