power problem...HELP PLEASE!

I bought a new DELL 5150 Laptop 2 months ago and I think it may be broken already. Problem: if I move the screen or computer the computer shuts itself off completely. I find if I pick up the computer from the CD drive side it makes the situation worse...I think maybe there is some power connection problem? I have been so careful with the thing that I am really surprised that it could possibly be broken already. Wanted to run the problem by you guys before sending it into the shop...my problem is that I now live in Japan and my warranty is in Canada so I want to avoid having to send it home if at all possible...any help would be so greatly appreciated...Thanks

it might just be a lose cable inside the laptop, but opening laptops can be really dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. there might just be a lose connection from the power input that's the first real guess.

 

Thanks for the input...I assume i shall have to send this back to Dell to be fixed...that sucks but hey what can ya do...thanks again

Contact DELL before sending it back. Explain the fact that you are now living in Japan, Warranty in Canada. They may come up with a local shop solution for you. Hope you have some success. I have a Gateway laptop and Gateway bailed out of Australia and NZ, so I know how you feel. Bazza
