My computer powered down on it's own, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in. The fans come on but the computer does not boot, and I don't have to hit the power button for the fans to start as soon as I plug the computer up they automatically start but the power button and the eject button on the DVD drive are both unresponsive. I replaced the power supply, but still the same thing. after 3 minutes with the old power supply it would just go dead, with the new power supply it stays on longer but it does nothing. What could this possibly be?

    Yeah welcome.

So you have looked inside. Did you clean up?

The most common cause is component overheating cause by dust accumulation.
Take the memory out, clean the contacts with paper clean out the sockets and reseat.
Take any pci or other cards out and do the same.
Take the processor out, clean the fan and heatsink, blow out the socket and reseat, preferably with new thermal compound.
Make sure all connectors are properly seated.

If this doesn't help post again.

Ok, so I took everything out and cleaned it. I also put everything back in piece by piece attempting to identify a problem part, but from the initial step with the HDD alone it still did the same thing. Fans, no boot and the power button does not work. What to do?

I have this same problem and when i hooked up my laptop the same thing happened

I happened to run removeit pro 4 and ezclean right before this started happening and I am afraid I messed up a setting that the computer needs to start.

the only way I could get my laptop back was to boot in safe mode and do a system restore because a setting was wrong. Unfortunately I can no longer boot my pc in safe mode as the power keeps cutting off. The only thing I can think to do is to find someone elses computer to put the hard drive into and try to fix the setting that way, or completely erase my hard drive and start over if I can find another pc to get it into so I can erase it.
