what order should one put the power saving schemes in? I know the monitor can go off first, but then I'm not sure. What is the difference between System Standby, Hibernation, and turning off hard disks? Also, how will each of these effect scheduled processes such as AV updates, defrag and cleanup? What does everyone else do?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

standby: low power mode pc is still on
hibernation: pc saves everything to disk and shuts off, pc turns on faster than if you just shut down

others: turn off: monitor, hard drive, standby, then hibernation

    :D

If you're planning to have AV updates happen while you're not at the computer, then make sure their "Scheduled task" is set to "wake the computer up to perform this task" :)

I'll do that, didn't know that was an option.

Hi, Goldy, how are you? Long time no see!! :)

PS You helped me last time with this question, but of course I forgot, and couldn't find it on here anywhere. Thanks again! :)

I've heard that a computer monitor eats up more power than the computer does. What I do is when I'm done on the computer I set my computer to 'stand by' and manually turn off the monitor.

I don't know if that's the best power saving way to do things but it works for me.
