Power Supply Capacity Recommendations ?

Can anyone give me an idea of what rating of power supply I will need for a computer with 5 hard drives in it ? I think I may have killed the one that's in there. It's an MSI motherboard with an AMD socket 939 processor. There are several cooling fans in the computer and also a DVD writer.

I took the power supply out and the connector that goes onto the motherboard has changed colour a bit.

I put a spare one in and it seems to work fine.

If anyone who's gas has run out or if your cooker doesn't work, come round here and I'll boil a kettle for you on this power supply.
