Was it doing the restarts before replacing the Power Supply?

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

What games are you playing and what are your PC temps?

Is the restart only on games?

To check on temps run this HERE

IN Event Viewer in likely Software or System logs at the time of the restart are their any red X's and if so what error do they contain?

    Have you checked your temperatures?

i had a 135 power supply before and it wouldn't be able to support the graphics card thats why i got the new power supply

So you upgraded the Power Supply AND Video Controller at the same Time?

is it possible that the power supply just had to get into high gear b/c i just tested Need For Speed the Run and usually it would've shutdown but i played for 30 minutes w/ no problems. Weird and also i can change my cpu's fan speed just in case it happens again. Thanks for all of your help now i know where to go w/ computer questions.

P.S yes sheerly i upgraded them at the same time :)

I suspect that your problem still exists because you haven't really done anything. I wouldn't necessarily blame the Power Supply though. The Video Controller could also cause such a problem and so could bad, dirty or improperly seated RAM.

Also, just for the sake of being thorough, make sure the connections at you power outlet or surge protector are secure as well as the external power connection to the Power Supply.

Note Real Temp is a great monitoring program, but it is for Intel CPUs only. The OP has an AMD. For that, I recommend CoreTemp for newer Intel and AMD64 CPUs.

It usually is best to let the motherboard's chipset manage the CPU fan speed - so I would put that back on Auto, or if a manual control, set it on full speed - ensuring the fan is connected to the CPU fan header.

Finally, note it is the case's job to provide enough cool air in the case. I prefer at least one large (120mm or larger) fan in front drawing cool air in, and at least one large fan (in addition to the PSU fan) in back exhausting hot air out. The idea is to provide good front-to-back flow through the case.

No, it shouldn't make a difference. There is not any 'high gear' in power supplies unless the fan is tied into the mobo. It should 'just work'.

Just to be clear, when the PSU fan is tied to the motherboard, that is for PSU fan speed monitoring - it is not for PSU fan speed control.

IF the PSU has a variable speed fan, the speed is controlled by the PSU's own temperature sensors and controller. Motherboards have no way of monitoring a PSU's internal temperatures.

In terms of power, there is no turbo mode or high gear in PSUs for that either. When the computer (motherboard, RAM, CPU, graphics solution, etc.) need power, they need it now and don't have time for a PSU to toggle into turbo mode.
