i have a 450 watt power supply that doesnt have enough 4 pin molex connectors(the one with 4, normally goes to cd or hd) for my new x800 pro agp card.
i have 2 extra 3 pin fan connectors on my motherboard that are open though.
i only need 1 more for my agp card.
so if i can get a converter from molex(4pin) to the fan connectors (3pin) i can gain a few extra slots for whatever i might need them for.
my total output for the molex connectors are..
2-fans (dual molex 1 in 1 out so no difference but if i could get a fan converter i would gain 1)
1-case. just for an led light on the front
    2-cdrw and dvd
    1-hd
so if i could get some converters i would only use around 3 instead of 6
anybody know of where i could get one?
also i know there is a way to "Macgyver" it do convert but i dont want to risk it.

I wouldn't connect any 4 pin fan to the MOBO 3 pin fan headers
They do make adapters but the problem is the amount of power that the MOBO 3 pin headers can provide is limited, if you exceed that amount it's very possible you will burn out the fan header or worse the MOBO

The only fan I connect to a MOBO header is the CPU fan and that only if it's within the power specs of the MOBO!

    Here's Molex splitter http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000JCQPD0/INSERT_CPC_TRACKING_CODE/ref=nosim
    or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16812183147

Local puter shop should also have some

If your PSU has limited Molex plugs it makes me wounder about the quality of the PSU you have

well i've got a spare 480 watt power supply but i havent checked the plugs,
i just want to keep this one because its got a light up led fan in the back..
so i should get a molex splitter rather than connect 2 fans and an led onto my mobo with a splitter?

    Yes IMO
    Connect to PSU

I usually see the front of my PC:p
More important than Pretty Light's is the PSU, Quality:major
