I've got an eMachine that had a bad power supply. At least it tested that way. After putting a good power supply in I'm still seeing issues. I have a feeling that the whole system was fried from a lightening strike but thought I'd get a second opinion. When you first start it the fans are on full force. If you're lucky they will slow down and it will boot, other times they just continue to run with no post. When it does run the onboard video seems to jerk the image around the screen. I haven't installed another card to check, but I know the monitor I'm testing with is good. Also if you let the computer go to standby/hibernate/sleep when you try to bring it back up you get the fast fans and no boot again. Restarting also gets you no where. I'm currently running memtest on it, and I tried to run WD's hard drive check on it, but of course I forgot to turn off standby, so I'll have to start that again. Any thoughts, motherboard shot too?

Sounds like you still have PSU problems
Are you sure the new PSU is good?
    What brand/model PSU?
Theres lots of garbage on the market
    ______

Other than crappy PSU, fan speed changes may be sign of Heat issues
Heat issues can be caused from several things, being a E machine your case probably has Poor airflow, might be possible to add more case fans
You might want to remove your CPU HSF clean and re-apply thermal paste

Well I didn't put in a new Power Supply, just one out of the many I have around. It tested ok, but I'll try some others to be sure. I left it running memtest last night and couldn't get it to exit this morning. It froze when I told it to restart(Esc). Then upon entering Windows it went blue screen, big surprise, it said it was and nv driver causing the issues. So I restarted into safe mode. I'm assuming the nv drivers were onboard nvidia, which was causing jerkyness and screen fluctuations before. Seems to be fine in safe mode though and I'm running the WD test again without the chance of it shutting down. The memtest didn't report any errors surprisingly. After the HD test is finished I'll try some more power supply's and let you know what I find. I like this site, it's nice to be able to troubleshoot with a place to right it out and get feedback on other ideas! Thanks! :highfive
