My power supply died recently, and I need some advice about replacing it. My system has currently: 1ghz AMD T-Bird, 384mb RAM, 2 HDDs, 1 DVD-ROM, 1 CD-RW, Radeon 9200 video, SoundBlaster Live 5.1, and a generic network card. My old power supply was a 300w with
    +3.3v@16A, +5v@25A, +12v@12A, -5v@0.3A, -12v@0.8A, +5vsb@1A.
My system worked real well for the past 3 years until my power supply's trip to the trash... The only one I have to replace is a 300w with
    +3.3v@20A, +5v@30A, +12v@10A, -5v@0.5A, -12v@0.5A, +5vsb@1.5A.
The only real difference is from +12v@12A(old) to +12v@10A(new), and -12v@0.8A(old) to -12v@0.5A(new). Will that make a huge difference, or should I go ahead and use the new power supply? Thanks for any help.

I would, if I had any money (thanks for the suggestion, btw). At the current point in time, I really only need to know if the 2amp difference on the +12v and the 0.3amp difference on the -12v will be the end of the world or not. My previous 300w supply did it's job perfectly for 3 years, I'm thinking this other one should but I'm not quite sure if the small differences will be a problem.

I don't think you will have any problems.

The specifications are what the power supply is capable of and rated for, but that doesn't mean the devices are using that all the time or even at all.

    Hi,

    http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/

You need to goto the above link and calculate the psu you need, I did it quick and came up with 260w. But you gave us limited info on your specs so check it out.

I think your 12v line was on the low side at 12a and dropping to 10a might not work, but it shouldn't hurt anything to try it and you say you don't have any money so I would give it a try and hope for the best.
