Simple thing really....Im looking for a power supply tester and wondered what you guys may recommend? Any particular type/brand i should be looking for?

I see a couple different designs on FleaBay but some look a bit tacky! A UK retailer would also be preferable :)

    Cheers!

I would personally forego these 'consumer units' as they don't stress the PSU under load while checking the volts, at least not that I know of. I just use a regular DVOM to check for volts and then run the 3.1.0 OCCT stress test and check how the PSU volts fare on the supplied saved graphs after a 10 minute test.

I'm not sure why MG's no longer carry's this?:confused Anyways, you can also grab the OCCT 4.0.0 beta 16 from here if you wish. Maybe MA thinks the beta is ready for primetime and de-listed it or for some other reason of course. I haven't tried the beta yet but will today. A great burn-in program to vet my new builds.:major

At any rate a DVOM is a multi purpose tool that can be used anywhere in the home too.

Ooh man, I like this! Graphs are fine when your system dies but live data is great! A big thumbs up from me!:cool BTW, I deliberately stopped and started OCCT to see if there was any substantial difference between no load and full load volts. I'm perfectly fine.:wine

Thanks for the link but thats pretty much exactly what i found on FleaBay anyways. I was looking more for a specific recommendation to a particular product.

I can appreciate what your saying about them not stressing the PSU but it is more of a very quick test just to rule out a failed unit easily rather than trying to poke in a multimeter.

I do however thank you a bunch for pointing out this program as it looks like an awesome tool... guess what i'll be doing for the next hour or so lol :-D

I'll keep looking for a short while but from what I've seen so far the LCD tester looks like a half decent unit.

Hey, whatever floats your boat.;) I still stick to what I said, use a DVOM but one has to know the pinouts and these above mentioned units make it easy. :cool

Yeah i fully agree with you there, im pretty handy with a DVOM but havent a clue about the pin outs yet but its something i'll learn in the near-ish future. It just doesnt look very good if im prodding about looking all :confused trying to figure out the pins lol
