I'm working on an emachine C2880 desktop. It is dead so I'm going to replace the power supply. I bought a 400W ATX Switching Power Supply and when I checked the website it only requires a 300W. Could this cause any poblems??

No. It never hurts to have more power, just to have too little. Just make sure it fits, as some manufactured PC's use Micro PSU's and such. Also make sure that it has all the connections you need. Cheers.
