my computer is kinda unusable at the moment. Before this there wasn't ( a significant) sign that there was something wrong with it.

My computer turns on but i get no display on my monitor at all im running an nvidia 8600 gt overclocked video card and it has been running fine for 2 years now without ever giving me problems.

At first i assumed it was the card but apparently it isn't because i switch back to my onboard card and i get the same problem.

The difference is i do get a stable image after a while on my onboard card but the problem of when it turns on still persists.

When i turn it on it doesn't make the ''beep'' it usually makes when turned on eventually later it does and then it begins to run windows. What it does initially is ''run'' and it seems to be getting stuck and it keeps ''running'' until finally it makes a beep and starts windows. It does the same thing with the nvidia card and onbaord card the only difference with the nvidia is i get no image and i only assume its running windows at that point because of how to computer is running after the beep.

Now this leads me to believe the problem is my power supply but i never had any problems with it at all nothing ever overheated or warned me in the 2 years i had it. I got the psu the same day i got my nvidia card because i needed to upgrade my current psu to 500watts. I did however notice my computer ran rather noisy when i got the new card i thought this would be because of the cards fan and new power supply but im not sure.

Other problems i had was the cms memory not working properly so my clock/tiME would always be wrong for some time but eventually the problem seemed it ''fixed'' itself.

Also there was a problem with my hard drive whenever i started my pc it would be blue and it would do soem crash dump thing and would restart but like the cms battery problem it seem to ''fix'' itself too and i have no gotten those problems for over a year now.

    Please help

    Your temps are fine.

Due to the fact you have had hdd problems aswell, I would recommend updating your mobo bios from the mobo manufacterers website.

Have you tried starting the computer with the nvidia graphics card removed?

DO NOT update the BIOS unless you KNOW it WILL fix the problems you are having - this is an inherently dangerous procedure that could kill your motherboard.

I disconnected optical drive and still get that noise/sound from pc. also the nvidia video card has been working fine for the past 2 years. even when i connect monitor to onboard video card i still get sound and the "beep" lags. it takes about 10 seconds or more until i get the "beep" and then i get image with onboard video card.
My PSU is an Antec Basiq BP500U, 500W ATX 12V v2.01 and I only had 1 year warranty from manufacturer. What can be the problem, is it the PSU or something else?
    Thanks

The delayed beep is probably related to the bad CMOS battery. It has to load defaults each time it starts. I would replace the battery just to rule out any connection to your problems. A bad CMOS battery can cause lots of weird problems on some systems (maybe even your video problem).

can anything reletively bad happen when replacing the cmos battery besides ESD. Can i lose my data if i do it wrong?

another thing i dont think i can actually remove my cmos battery

Most desktop batteries are very easy to change. No real danger. Just unplug, open the case and remove the old one and put the new one in. Radio Shack or many pharmacies will have replacement batteries in their battery/photo department.

Is your PC a name brand model or do you know your motherboard model number? Shouldn't be hard to find a picture or instructions for changing. Does the battery lay flat or is it in a slot? Is it just a bare battery or does it have a cable or plastic jacket on it?

Some major manufacturers have taken to soldering down the batteries, especially in laptops but now also in desktops, just to make the replacement harder. This just encourages people to say: "Well, the battery is soldered, we must replace the board"

It will make a difference to the BIOS to have the card removed, as every time you start the computer the BIOS probes the attached hardware to see what has changed. If this process is being corrupted by a faulty card/motherboard then removal of the card may isolate the issue.

Well issue solved and i was hoping it wasnt my video card. Unpluged

it and no longer makes noise on onboard card. I even cleaned it fairly good becuase it was dusty but it didnt make a difference it didnt get any image and lagged when starting up so i just took it out of my tower.

What exactly could cause my video card to fail? This one is still like ~100 bucks too expensive so i wont replace it....

But what other ones can i get for 15-35 bucks that are at least decent
