Power went out and I lost a term paper...

I had just finished and saved a MS Word document, the power went out on campus. When the power came back, I tried to find the document and it is nowhere to be found. Any idea how I can recover it?

 

LOL, it's actually a friend that lost it. She emailed me and I'm trying to help. I think she has XP.
