I've got the sound playing, which wasn't a problem - what I need is a way of saving it embedded properly so it plays on other PC's

I've been to several sites and followed the suggested cures - they don't work

I've changed it to WAV, increased the embedded sound default from 100k max
and a few other tips, but it still results in a 1.5 MB file that obviously doesn't contain the 4 MB+ music file

    suggestions anyone ?

I meant to reply yesterday but it somehow slipped under the radar, so I hope this is in time for you.

There are three ways to use sound directly in Powerpoint.

Only one way actually embeds the sound in the powerpoint, and grows the file accordingly.

Insert>movies and sounds> embeds the sound within powerppoint

Insert>movies and sounds>all the other choices >links to external sound file, many formats.

Slideshow>recodnarration > also links to external sound file, but only .wav format. Howwever it does sutomatically set up the playback for you.

If you link to a sound you must have it available in its original place for playback to succeed.
The usual way to achieve this is to plave the sound file in the same folder as the .ppt file.

All this is similarly true of video files.
