    Posting for a friend
Here are his specs:300 watt power supply, Pci express x16 slot, 3.0 P4 HT processor, 80 gb 7200 Rpm, windows xp, radeon x700 pro, 4 fans

Here's what he wants: an ati x850xt if he can get by with just a 300w ps, but otherwise a x800xl and a 400w powersupply.

just want to know what is a good powersupply to have for these type of cards or if a 300w will run a 850xt all the way, and if the x800 will be a good card to play future games as well as bf2, quake4 and fear.

if you have any advice you can aim him at volumeone0686, he needs some direct help from a pro before he decides on what card to buy.

Should get a Quality PSU, For P4 rig & one that might be OCed, get one that has min of 33A or so on single 12v rail
    Here's one I'd consider:

Another, good deal thru 10-5-05 OCZ Powerstream 520w:

IMO for what your bud's running now 300w isnt enough, another thought Generic = bad & risky
