.pps e-mail extension

I received an e-mail attachment with a 456 KB file ending in .pps
I downloaded the .pps viewer from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...27-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&DisplayLang=en
but I still can't get the attachment to open without the error window saying that it doesn't "have the program associated for performing this action".

I looked at "Folder Options" in the Control Panel, and it has the .pps extension associated with the Power Point Viewer. So, I'm not sure what else I can do to be able to open the e-mail attachment.

.pps extension is Microsoft Power Point Slideshow, which you have to purchase.

Before I had the computer reformatted, I had downloaded the "viewer" link without purchasing the actual program and it worked ok. I can't do anything in it, it was just to view what others sent to me.

I don't understand why the link worked before, and now it doesn't?

I'm beginning to wonder if somewhere in the Nero setup caused confusion in the computer. I now also have a problem with another file extension. Ho hum, looks like I'll have to uninstall then re-install Nero, see if I can get things working again.

Before having the computer reformatted/reinstalled XP, I used to be able to open e-mail attachments directly from the e-mail which had the .pps extension using the Power Point Viewer Download.

This time it wouldn't do so. I've figured out how I can do this! I saved the e-mail attachment .pps to My Documents. Then I went to the Start Menu, clicked on Power Point Viewer, the viewer asked where the file was, so I clicked on the file that I had saved to My Documents, and voila, I was able to see the attachment that was e-mailed to me.
