    Great Idea

    :major

To move a laptop operating system to a larger hard drive

Use a pc with OS (Vista) on SATA and 2 free IDE channels.

Connect original and new laptop hardrives to IDE channels (via adapters)

    Insert Partition Magic CD

    Boot PC.

Identify source and target laptop drives and choose 'copy'.

    Easy Peasy.

    Disaster.

PQmagic identifies the Vista partition as 'unallocated space' - just like the blank new laptop drive.

So I copied the old laptop OS on top of Vista.
