preloaded software a pain

    hey everybody,
    My friend got a new machine for christmas HP pavilion 1203w of course with all the preloaded stuff in her norton scan it goes through over 200,000 files what can I take off that might help :eek:

    well, it just depends on what you want it to do (or her). most all new computers add alot of crap (games, trial software, etc.). i just bought a new hp pc (tower only), and in the process of slowly uninstalling, changing startup stuff etc. if things are bogging down on startup, or you have alot of stuff starting up (ie: on the taskbar by the clock), you can disable them from starting on startup.

    fyi, my h/d has 10 gybte of stuff on there, normally i can get my backup (on my older xp computer), to fit on 1 dvd. obviously, i have a long way to go on this computer.

    i just checked my new comp, and it has 70 programs on install/uninstall...
