   I have a couple of old laptops I would like to sell. Is there any advice out there on what steps I should take to clean the hard drive?

   If you have restore CDs that came with the notebooks, I would run DBAN to wipe the hd then do a clean install using the restore CD.

   You boot the computer from a DBAN floppy. I haven't looked but I suspect there is also a DBAN boot CD.
