It’s going to be limiting on whether older PC can install Win 11.
It seems currently it will require Secure boot to be enabled, TPM 2.0 & a very modern processor.
I ran whynotwin11 & it has a question mark on the processor as it is Skylake.

You can get the compatibility app HERE. Scroll down to find and download it. Four machines here, they all failed on the CPU. Win 11 also marks the end of the road for MBR systems unless you convert to UEFI/GPT. I did that on one laptop but it still failed.

Sounds like they are trying to add more spying tools to windows 11 with all the apps they added. And i bet it will be very difficult to remove these apps.No thanks i think i will stick with windows 10.Tired of trying to understand OS systems.I will not be able to use the touch screen system any way so that is kinda pointless. And it seems they are trying to force you to use the microsoft account option with windows 11.No thanks...

No surprise. Windows 11 will require an 8th generation Intel processor (Coffee Lake) or a 2nd generation AMD Zen+ (Ryzen 2000 series) processor. Even the older first gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x with its 16 cores/32 threads is no longer good enough for Windows 11 o_O

Basically, everything over 3 years is no longer officially supported.

Mine is actually compatible. I have an Intel i9 Processor. I'm not sure I'll download it though.

In all honesty i think it's a wash all ready.Microsoft is basically shooting them self's in the foot again.I bet they will try and force the update like they did with windows 10.

Most likely they will and just because on the surface machines are compatible, it doesn't mean everything on them is. I think 10 broke my last machine. I had to do a complete reset on it. I forget which thing didn't work, but it was major.

Thanks plodr, I did notice Goddess Bastet had used it but I hadn't tried it as MS provide a list of Win 11 compatible cpus and mine was nowhere near. Sort of end of story. From what little I know atm I wouldn't want to use it anyway - I like tinkering so secure boot is an absolute no no, and I don't want to be tied to using a MS account at startup either. Businesses might like it though.

I can confirm now that Windows 11 installs just fine in a virtual machine such as VirtualBox. Look like all checks for secure boot and TPM are disabled while running Windows 11 in a VM. It does even run with just one CPU core and 1 GB of RAM

But can you actually do anything on it with 1 core and 1 GB or RAM assigned?

Ran the whynotwin11 script and at least the laptop is fully compatible. My desktop may not be, that's only got an i5 9600k in it.

Yes, basic tasks. Don't expect that you can run something heavy on that configuration.

I just wanted to see how Windows 11 performs on a low end configuration, because of the high system requirements. So far there is no performance difference between Windows 10 and 11. A machine that can run Windows 10 would work perfectly fine with Windows 11.

The i5 9600k is a 9th generation Intel CPU and on the Windows 11 compatibility list. I assume you need to enable secure boot or/and TPM in the BIOS.

My laptop is only 2 years old has fails because my CPU isn't compatible.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having trouble, I thought I would do some beta testing but my main machine (AMD Ryzen 3 3100) got rejected for it.. Which left me scratching my head because I have a Microsoft Surface 2 and while that came up and said it doesn't support it, it still let me download win11 and that's much older than what I have..

Guess I'll be joining the group of not upgrading unless Microsoft waves the TPM2 chip thing as my machine is custom and it never got installed. I have no interest in searching out if I can add one to my machine. I checked the bios and don't have any sort of option to turn it on so I guess my machine isn't supported.. I find this kinda interesting.

My gut feeling says Microsoft is going to wave that TPM2 chip requirement sooner than later, cause by the looks of things a whole lot of people will be missing out.. But I guess we'll just sit and wait to see what happens.

Your Ryzen does support TPM2. No extra chip is needed. Just look for the fTPM option in the BIOS and enable it. Some motherboards have this hidden under Advanced => AMD fTPM configuration or CPU Configuration.

@Philipp - THANK YOU .. I was looking for TPM2 but after you said what you did I jumped to the bios enabled it and ran the WhyNotWin11 and everything is green lit.

Hey all, My system is compatible, but I will wait until Windows 10 is no longer supported(2025 October).
Especially since the news in Windows 11 is nothing IMHO.;)
