    Hi all.

As the topic indicates, I have a Presario CQ57 laptop, and am running Windows 7. I am having a problem holding a wireless internet connection. All other computers/laptops on the network have properly functioning connections. I am able to connect to the network, but the problem is that my laptop cannot hold the connection for very long. Every 5 minutes or so, I get randomly disconnected from the internet. This does not show in the wireless connection bars at the bottom right (it does not change at all). If I am in an online game, I will be disconnected, which is very frustrating. Also, if Skype is open it will show the reconnection symbol on the taskbar. I have tried various things to fix it, but I am willing to try anything and everything to fix it. I am new to this, and therefore am not sure what other details should be provided.

My router is a Netgear DG834Gv3 (there is also another modem in the house I can connect to which is a Dlink9A3C, this one does not work properly for me either).

My network adapter is "Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter" (from Device Manager).

If any more information is required, let me know. Thank you.

    Hi

Is your Windows 7 at Service Pack 1 update? and all critical updates done so far?

In the task bar do you have any HP or Compaq wireless managers or is your wireless managed by Windows own manager?

I find 3rd party wireless managers as in Dell, HP, ACER etc problematic and Windows own is best, so uninstall the 3rd party Wireless manager and run Windows own built in manager

I would give this HERE a go to see if you can narrow the issue down

Thank you for your reply DavidGP.

My Windows 7 does have the service pack 1 update and critical updates have been done. I am not entirely sure if I am using a 3rd party wireless manager, but I think I am using Windows own manager. I am now trying the problem solving ideas in the link you posted.
