Okay, well I got a new computer recently ( couple of days ago ), it's currently setup barebones for, of course, troubleshooting purposes...Most of the problems I fixed upon research and further inspection....

Let me start off by giving you the computer specs...

ASUS A8V DELUXE Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard
eVGA 256-A8-N345-AX Geforce 6800Ultra 256MB GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card (Which currently isn't in the computer since it doesn't work)
XG VORTEC PSVO-600 ATX 600W Power Supply
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3700BNBOX
CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model TWINX1024-3200C2PT
Western Digital Raptor WD740GD 74GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive (OEM)
Thermaltake Xaser V Damier V5000+ Black Aluminum/Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Okay, now the current problems are...I have 2 HDDs installed, and it doesn't recognize One of the HDDs and it doesn't recognize the CDROM ( I had to install XP on the other one before it would recognize the one I bought in the specs ) This is just a driver overload issue I think....
The more major issue is that there's an error message with installing new hardware...something about a processor driver, but it won't install since there are no drivers for it...In any case I am getting the blue screen of death every once in a while ( new computers have never done this to me before ) just out of no where...Some other forum said I should update the BIOS but I know this can really f*** up your system and I don't have a flobby drive installed/available...Any suggestions?

    I'm assuming you're running WinXP 32-bit.

    Processor driver is here:
    http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_9706,00.html

You only have 1 HDD listed, and no CD listed. You also didn't say what you've done to fix the problem.

Do you have the latest drivers for your system?
    VIA HyperionPro drivers

Does the BIOS see your missing HDD and CDROM? If it does, you've probably got them plugged into the Promise RAID controller and neglected to install the drivers for it available here.

you dont need to use a floppy to update bios's anymore its all done through windows, check the bios revision you have at the moment, then check ASUS for the fixes in the latest bios revisoion,it will be listed as cpu support added, improved or support for sandiego range of chips,if all the bios revisions after the one you have dont fix any problems you are having, there is no need to,if your worried about flashing it. :D

EDIT I have tried to check asus's site but I just keep getting stuck with the loading bar whatever I search for?

I've installed all the drivers that you listed...I've just been trying to figure out what to do to solve the situation...Most sites don't have a real answer to my exact predicament. in any case, it does see the HDD and the CDROM in the bios...just not in windows...

There is actually another problem though, the IDE channels, I have duplicates of them and i'm guessing that's the problem, but if I try to uninstall I get the dreaded blue screen of death...i'm restarting now to see if those drivers worked though.

Well, are the jumpers on the back of the HD's set up correctly? Different hard drives use different settings....

The HD your going to use to boot off of should be set to master and it should be listed as primary master in your bios. The storage HD should be set to secondary... Also, are all of your IDE cable connected CORRECTLY? You wouldnt believe how frustrated people get, connecting the cables incorrectly and taking pristine products back...

I checked and yes, they are setup correctly. One problem is one is a SATA drive, the other is not...so it uses a serial connector while the other one uses a regular one...Would this cause any sort of conflict like this?

I DON'T think that would work... Im not 100% sure but from what I hear it almost never works out right.
