    g'day danjotom

if when you installed the new windows xp operating system you created a new partition on the hard drive and left the old operating system on a different partition then at boot up you will be given the option of booting into either the new or the old OS.
if by chance you formatted the drive you put the new OS on this would have wiped any previous OS off.

I didnt create a new partition or format the drive, I just created a new folder on the drive with the new os in it. The old os is still on the same drive.
