I noticed a little lag when using my home network accessing files from my main computer so i ran this test to see if it was the cpu and within 1 minute of hitting start i get this error message but it doesnt say whats wrong. Could someone tell me the possible reason its doing this im not OC'ing it at all.

My cpu temp runs at 31c idle and 37C when im running it pretty hard.

    Specs:

    Asus mobo A8V-Deluxe socket 939
    amd 3200+ 2.0 ghz
    KVR 2x512
    TT psu 480 watt

have you tried other benchmarks/stress test programs? maybe prime95 just isn't up for your computer (it's never up for mine).

    try 3dmark or pcmark.

I tried running a program called CPU Stability Test and it does the 5 minute warm up then gives a error too.

what program are you using to detect temps?

I'm using the Asus probe and it is 1-2 degrees off from that in bios. I'm using a Thermal Take Venus cooler. I ran this CPU test when I first finished building it 3 weeks ago and came thru good after 4 hrs but this time it comes back with a error within seconds. One of my friends said it may be my KVR ram thats doing it but i checked it with Memtest86 in my other pc and it came out fine there.

i would suggest using motherboard monitor but MBMs website is down so I have no idea whether it supports your board or not ... i think it is... but you might try the latest Asus probe: http://www.asus.it/support/download...&l3_id=3&m_id=1&f_name=Probe22402.zip~zaqwedc if you are currently using the one that came on your CD

as for memtest, it's good only if it's an obvious mem error ... as it won't detect every single error ... the only way to see for sure is replacing the memory with known good RAM

also have you ran spyware/virus scans and defragged you drive? there might be other reasons your network is lagging besides bad hardware

I've checked for spyware and come up clean there.

I tested this memory inside this pc(1) and got a error then I put the same memory in my other pc(2)i went thru memtest fine.

So then I tried taking the memory that i took outta pc(2) and put it in pc(1) that im having problems with and it came up with same error running prime 95 and CPU Stability Test.

could be your motherboard doesn't like that RAM ... that's a good mobo so it might demand higher quality RAM .. what is PC2s RAM?

PC 1 has 2 x 512 dual channel the one with the problems.

PC 2 has 2 x 256 dual channel and i tried putting it in PC1 and got same error.

In Asus manual it has list of memory can be used and both the model numbers are on there.

sounds like the mobo is bad ... although I don't know how to test to make sure

If the motherboard was bad wouldnt it just not boot or do anything? Although id rather replace the motherboard then the cpu since its cheaper and both i bought retail so they should be under warrenty being Ive only had them a little over a month now. But i heard that if you dont use the retail heatsink on the cpu or take the thermal pad off and use your own thermal paste it voids the warrenty not sure if its true or not...

if you just return the mobo it shouldn't void the warrantee ... as the heatsink doesn't have anything to do with that ... unless you replaced anything on the mobo itself ... course you could just put the original back ... if you just want a replacement they shouldn't ask too many questions

it depends on what is wrong with it
