While using MS office any attmept to use cut and paste results in the clipboard being filled up with print screen captures. Any pasting results in the print screen capture being inserted into the document.

The computer being used is a pent 4 with 512 ram. Up to date virus scans and adware have been run nothing has been detected.

The problem only occurs in word so keyboard and mouse problems dont seem to be the problem. The office software office 2003 has been reinstalled and the problems goes away for a day but then returns.

    Any idea's

I take it you're using Ctrl+x and Ctrl+v to cut and paste (respectively).
    If not, use them.
Sounds for all the world as though you have a macro virus that's re-setting your keyboard hotkeys.

But here's what I'd try first: Reset the keyboard to all of the default hotkey settings (since you just re-installed Office 2003, you must not have too many customized hotkeys yet -- any you have will be wiped when you reset to default) by doing this:

Tools>Customize>Keyboard button>Reset all button, and click Yes when it asks for confirmation.

Then try Ctrl+x and Ctrl+v again and see.

Let us know. This sounds very muddled, because you get correct behaviour for a few days, and then abnormal behaviour.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to reset the keyboard hot keys however the option was greyed out and unavailable.

Well, your copy of Word is definitely broken. The question is What broke (breaks) it? I've never before seen a copy of Word with the keyboard re-set button greyed out.

When re-installation mends a problem but the problem returns after a while, something that is NOT part of the program (like a macro virus, say) would seem to be getting to the program.

Have you shut down System Restore before doing the re-in of Word, to make sure that the problem isn't waiting in the Restore Points to re-infect the new installation? It's worth a try. It's a shame to be without your primary word processor just because a bug keeps messing it up.

Sorry I wasn't able to help.
