Print Spooler will not run

Hi & Thanks in advance for your time,

About 3 days ago I was trying to print and got the message that I didn't have a printer installed. I was running XP with SP2. Wasn't able to install a printer due to the print spooler not running.

Over the last few days I have tried every repair in the book. I've read over what's been told to others here with the same problem as I am currently having, I have followed Bruce's instructions, I have started the print spooler about 100 times (it will not stay on), I upgraded to SP3 today, tried the Microsoft Fix It tool, and nothing is getting that print spooler to stay on.

I have a fairly new Brother printer all in one - MFC-J415W. I can't install from the disk either.

As for my computer, I purchased it already loaded with windows - it is old - HP Pavilion a405n, so I do not have a disk to load in new spooler files. Is there anything I can do?

I have spoken with Microsoft & because I am no longer under warranty they won't help me. Brother was helpful, but only came up with the same solutions as I performed earlier. I am going to try and get a different XP install disk to see if I can repair the spoolsv.exe file, if that doesn't work, I think I am hoped
