    Hi!

I have a 3 in 1 Epson Stylus CX4600. I'm wondering if members have a brand preference, as I'm thinking of going back with Hewlitt Packard.

I originally had a Hewlitt Packard printer from years ago, couldn't tell ya what series, but it was the greatest for me as a low volume user. This Epson scanner/printer/photocopier was a gift.

Soon found that the Epson had incorrect ink level indicators, as well as clogged nozzles. Several nozzle cleans using the printer program would sometimes solve the problem, but use a lot of ink. So, the manufacturer replaced it with another one. This time ink levels seem to be accurate, but again, the ink nozzles frequently clog. I was told to use rubbing alcohol to clean the printer nozzles. Doesn't always work. The HP, I could go months without having ink problems, with this Epson, I could go a couple days and have ink problems.

Again, as a low volume user, should I try out the newer 3 in 1 HP's (just a basic model is good for me) or should I just stick with what I've got and come to terms that ink will dry up no matter how often I use it?????

    Confused, opinions very much welcomed!

Honestly, I think all home user printers really kind of suck. Ironically, though, I've liked Epson printers the best.

Just thinkin' here, the Epson has 3 colour ink cartridges, and 1 black. The HP has 1 colour ink cartridge, and 1 black. Would the bigger cartridges in the HP have bigger ink nozzles, resulting in less chances of it clogging?
    :p

    Thanks!

As for your question, I can't answer honestly, because I've never looked into it, but are you sure that cartridge doesn't have 3 colours in one? (ie, three separate ink nozzles in one cartridge)? I've never seen a printer where the three colours (magenta, cyan, yellow) used a common nozzle.

Heh, mathematically speaking, the expected number of clogs would equal the probability that any one nozzle gets clogged, multiplied by the number of nozzles. That means clogs are 3 times more likely if you had three nozzles.

I have to laugh at myself, this is why I love Major Geeks so much, you guys teach me so much, set me straight, and you say it so nicely without making me feel like a real idiot, lol. I never thought about 3 nozzles within one ink cartridge, I just inserted the cartridge and ink magically comes out. Who knew?

Just joking around here,... I'm not a blond, but I did get highlights done once! j/k
    :p
