Recently, our computer was attacked by the Google Redirect Virus, so after running numerous Anti-Virus Softwares, I got rid of it. However, somewhere along the way, a virus scanner mistakenly deleted dlcccoms.exe as a malicious file.

After trying to print some airline ticket info, the computer gave me a message "Communication Not Available - The computer cannot communicate with the printer." Then I remembered reading online earlier that dlcccoms.exe was a malicious file disguised as a printer communication program... apparently it was actually a legitimate file needed for the printer to work :(

So now, I need to figure out how to get this file (dlcccoms.exe) back... I don't remember which anti-virus software got rid of it, but I've checked all the logs/quarantine lists and didn't find it. Can I just re-download it online somewhere, or is it more difficult than that?

I'm running Windows XP 32-bit and have a Dell XPS 400 computer. The printer came with the computer when we got it in maybe 2006? It is a Dell AIO 924... or something like that. I'm not a computer/technology master so bear with me please. :confused

I would very much appreciate some help from someone with more experience/computer knowledge. If you need more info on my system, just ask. Thank you in advance!

Yes, it is a dell printer. However the software came preloaded onto the computer, as we bought the printer and computer as a package deal, so we don't have the actual software disk. Can i find it online somewhere?

What is the model number of the printer? Also, what is the service tag number? Dell has a service tag on the side or bottom of the computer. I do not think the printer would be listed on your driver page unless you purchased it directly from dell.

Edit: You didn't receive any CD's with your computer and printer?

I really don't think we did receive any cd's but I could be wrong because it's been such a long time.

    Service Tag: 77G7481

And... I'm not sure which one the model number is :-o
Sorry for my lack of computer skills.

Edit: Is the model number just the name? Dell Photo AIO Printer 924

Your service tag shows the following drivers for your computer but the printer is not mentioned.

Here is the driver for your printer. I would recommend that you first uninstall the existing printer software if it is shown in Add/Remove Software of Control Panel.

    Installation Instructions:

    Download

1.Click Download Now, to download the file.
2.When the File Download window appears, click Save (Windows XP
users will click Save) this program to disk and click OK. The Save In:
    window appears.
3.From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to
select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.
4.If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file
    icon appears on your desktop.

    Install

1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled _G11AWeb32924EN.exe.
2.The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or
unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R109906. Write down this path so the executable (I.e.
Setup.exe) file can be found later.
    3.The Self-Extractor window appears.
    4.Click OK.
5.After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor
window is still open, close it.
6.Click the Start button and then click Run.
7.Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R109906 in the Open textbox and then click OK.
    8.Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

I removed the printer software, then restarted the computer. The printer was still plugged into the USB port, so it automatically downloaded everything once the computer started up again, and now it works!
Thank you very much for your help!
