Printer Error SOS

Alright, here's the background. I'm a designer / drafter, and my plotter went to plotter heaven (started acting up, so I gave it to someone else, and ordered a new one.) they're both HP Designjet 130 plotters, at about $1300 a clip. I uninstalled the old one, and installed the new one with the newer CD that came with it. It works fine, but the computer would beg to differ. See, what they have is a failure to communicate, the plotter prints it pretty little pictures, and tells the computer that it wants to cut a new deal with the plotters guild before it prints anything out. (at least that's what I'm thinking.) but the plotter never actually fails to print, in fear of being replaced by a scab (the old plotter that worked without telling stories to the computer.) which I have threatened. I'm attaching a screen shot of the error, can anything be done? thanks.

But, if it's still under warranty, I'd check with HP (phone or email) as it may be defective, but probably a driver problem. Are you using VISTA? You may need to download a driver from HP (The cd you used to install it may be pre-VISTA?

 

Try removing the plotter completely. Disconnect from computer. Do a search for HP folders & delete them. Reboot. Go to the site below & download the driver for the OS you are using (put it in an easy-to-remember place <desktop> or <drivers>:

Power down & connect plotter. Power up. When NEW HARDWARE is found, make Window$ go to where you downloaded the file (above). it's got to be a driver issue, either wrong driver or too many drivers.
