Printer Hanging

    In contacting this forum, I'm doing so on behave of a friend. I'm assumming they run WindowsXP. Below is what they wrote me.

    "My printer on my computer will not work anymore. When I try to print the box pops up and it looks like it is going to print fine. The printer even says "printing" on the screen, but the document never prints and the computer gets locked up everytime we try. The only thing we can do is shut it down and delete the pending print job to get the computer working again. I have tried everything I know how to do. I reinstalled the printer and nothing has worked."

    Any suggestions?

    Hi

    Could be one of two things the spooler service is not running and for that try this (or manually open up Services and check the Spooler service is Started and its Startup Type set to Automatic)

    or a job or two are stuck in the spooler, had this before myself and found this neat free app to clear it, Stalled Printer Repair
